o dear one

o dear one,
you are in the presence of God right now
and the only reasons you don’t feel it
are desires (i want that, don’t want this!)
or thoughts (taking you somewhere else, and with desire, too)
or concepts that get in the way
of opening to now
and letting it be
this way, or that way.
so, this is what god looks like now.
hmm!

sometimes the conditions are so bad
that it’s more than understandable
that you ‘desire not to be gravely ill’
or ‘desire not to see the innocent harmed.’
or even when you think
important thoughts.

other times,
the desires and thoughts
really aren’t helping you anyway.
they’re just causing you to suffer.

wouldn’t it be nice
to learn to clean the lenses
so the light shines in?
